Day 3

Mel has been home for 3 days now and I am definitely noticing that he is feeling a lot better. I have been sleeping downstairs on the couch with him every night. This morning I went upstairs to wake up my boyfriend, I told Mel to stay, then all of a sudden i heard him whining at the bedroom door. He did the stairs all on his own! I really didn’t expect him to come close to attempting that! I was so proud of him I cried. He has been eating/drinking well all day. The pain patch comes off tomorrow so we will see how he feels after that.

  1. I see Mel follows instructions like Maggie!!!

Good to hear he is feeling a little better each day.

  2. Within limits I’d say let Mel do what he feels up to doing. (When Emily got home from the hospital my husband was making a bed on the floor for her and turned around and she was gone. She had jumped on the love seat and was resting happily.)

I’m so glad to hear that Mel is amazing you! Give him a hug for me.

  3. Great for Mel!
When Maggie came up the stairs all by herself, I too had a little cry and was SO happy to see her there. Sounds like Mel is doing a great job and love his mama! Keep up the good work.

  4. That’s great about Mel! Mackenzie did the same thing – totally surprised us by climbing all the stairs. We didn’t realize it until she was already at the top. Made my day. I cried too. Once the pain patch is removed, he’s probably going to feel even better. He’ll be jumping up the wall like in his video in no time!

  5. Super news! Wait till the patch comes off, he will amaze you even more. Just be sure to not let him overdo it. Excellent news Mel, keep it up!

  6. Sending a big fat hug for Mel!!! (and you!!)… when the patch comes off… you will definitely see a new dog!!!
