I just got off the phone with Mel’s vet. The first thing he told me was don’t panic, he knows I am starting to get overwhelmed with all the differant things that have been going on. We are going to hold off on the prednisone and the vinblastine until we get the infection under control. He said the results of the culture should be in in about 3 days. The culture was done so we didn’t waste any time trying to figure out what antibiotic he should be on. Hopefully he will heal up quickly so we can get started back on his chemo soon.
I hate to hear about this setback. Give him lots of love from all of his fans out here! Keep that smile on that handsome face!
Sounds like a good plan. While the infection heals it will give you both a break- you haven’t said that Mel is sick from the infection- right? A few days of ‘only’ having to worry about anti-biotics might be good for you, and give Mel a chance to be eating regularly and completly recover from the first chemo. Then he (and you) will be strong going into the next round.

I know it is hard to wait. This whole cancer thing is a roller coaster without enough ups and to many downs. An infection Mel can fight. Try not to panic and do trust that your vet is working on it and your job is to spoil and enjoy your boy.
