So it has been 13 days since Mel’s surgery. I cannot believe the progress he has made in such a short time. He is back to his old self. The only things holding him back are his sutures and his cone head 🙂 both of which he will lose tomorrow as long as all goes as planned. All of his blood tests came back NORMAL so as long as the vet thinks everything looks good tomorrow he will also be starting his first vinblastine chemo treatment!! I am excited he is doing so well and I know he will continue to amaze me. I can’t wait to take him for a walk!! Hopefully tomorrow is the day.
Hooray for tomorrow! We hope all goes as planned and Mel is cone of shame free! A walk would be a good treat if Mel is up for it!!
Way to go Mel!!!! Remember stitch removal day you get extra treats!
Mag never had to wear a cone- Buddha belly pugs with short noses can’t reach incisions!!

Hey Mel you’re a darn good dog if you’ve kept the Cone on that long. I hope you go out an pawwwwwwty tomorrow! Congratulations!
We are 6 days into our recovery and your posting help a lot. The thought of being able to take Auggie for a walk again is so so nice. Please give Mel a hug from us, he’s a rock star in our house.
He has only had to wear the cone for the last 3 days since the drain has been in. Thank goodness because that as been more of a disability than his missing leg!
Hi! My baby girl was diagnosed with the same thing, Stage III Mast Cell, on the 18th of January. Hers is on her left front leg though. Her blood tests came back clear as well, and her leg is being amputated on the 15th. I’m terrified. So scared for what she’s going to go through, and scared about the quality/length of her life afterwards. Since you’re just a little ahead of me, I’m hoping your blog will help me out some.
I am sorry to hear about your pup. You will be amazed by how she does. Mel surprises me every day 🙂
